Greyworlds Urban Sketches

December 21, 2005

greyworlds urban sketchesGreyworld’s Urban Sketches installation (click gallery/new media) is an interactive work that makes the space and its inhabitants both the subject of the work and its authors.

A hidden camera records the space and its inhabitants, the mirror like screen becoming the visual palette for an altered version of the captured reality. The volume of people, their movements and their spatial relationships generate the “treatment” of the end piece.

Step into the gallery and watch yourself literally melt in to the wall, before bursting into fire.”

Again this was sourced from the inspirational ‘we-make-money-not-art’ thanks Regine, and congrats on the Royal College of Art (London) sponsorship.

The installation reminds me of an immersive game at the 2002 Game On exhibition at the Barbican in London. The gamer would stand infront of a screen and throw a virtual fireball to another player, you could select fire or water – which was handy as occassionaly you’d burst into flames.. (virtually of course).
