“The PSP™ Design Club brought together fourteen of Europe’s most esteemed creatives – artist Chris Ofili (who also acted as team leader); architects David Adjaye, Julie Linke Bank; multimedia designer Ben Hooker; designers Shona Kitchen, William Rowe, Sami Khan, Onkar Kular, Martí Guixé (product designer) and Barrie K. Sharpe; creative director Shubhankar Ray; still and moving image specialist Siro Micheroli; film maker/programmer Jeremy Boxer; and the creative design practice Fibre – in an exciting and experimental new project which celebrates the freedom of the creative process and marks the launch of the highly anticipated PlayStation®Portable (PSP).
The designers came together to create a manifesto incorporating the PSP and drawing on inspiration from one of its core values ‘freedom’. Over a 10 week period members were invited to collaborate and to develop ideas in any medium. They have provided their solutions to the brief (the fruits of the Lab), whilst also exploring and documenting the creative process, the ideas and influences.”
